Steam Deck Verified — Full playability confirmed at launch

Steam Deck Verified means no major compatibility warnings. Default graphics work correctly, UI remains readable on the 7-inch screen, suspend/resume is functional, and the game is fully playable with built-in controls — no keyboard needed.

What Verified Means in Practice

Controller Layout Identical to Xbox

LT maps to left trigger (drift), RT to right trigger (jump), sticks handle lanes and tricks exactly as documented in the Controls Guide. No remapping needed out of the box.

Readable UI at Default Scale

Text and dare prompts remain readable at default UI scale on the 7-inch screen. If you find subtitles too small, increase subtitle size in the in-game accessibility settings.

No Keyboard Required

Verified status confirms full playability without the on-screen keyboard. All menus, Tricktionary access, and dare tracking work entirely with built-in controls.

Suspend/Resume Works

The game handles Steam Deck suspend/resume correctly — essential for commute and portable session play. Your run progress and dare state save properly on suspend.

Recommended Settings

SteamOS Quick Menu Settings

Start with the default Verified graphics preset — only adjust if framerate dips below 40 FPS in Trick Park
Cap framerate at 40 FPS for best battery life, or 60 FPS if plugged in or prioritising smoothness
Use Gamepad template in Steam Input — not keyboard emulation
Store game on internal SSD for faster reload between dare retries
Disable unnecessary Steam overlay notifications during timed dares — overlays can interrupt Trick Park runs
Update SteamOS before first play to ensure latest Proton compatibility

Drift & Trick Ergonomics on Deck

Rear Triggers for Drift

The Deck's rear triggers are well-suited for holding drift through corners — better long-session fatigue than a face button would be. Standard grip is fine for most players during extended Trick Park grinding.

Right Stick Trick Flicks

Trick inputs require precise right stick motions — quarter/half/full circles. If tricks drop inconsistently, try a slight deadzone reduction in Steam Input settings. The Deck's sticks have slightly different feel than a full-size controller.

No Gyro for Tricks

Tricks map to the right stick by design — gyro is not required or standard for Tricktionary inputs. Don't enable gyro for trick control; it will conflict with the stick-based input system.

Lap Grip for Commutes

Stabilise the device on your lap during trick-heavy sessions on commutes. The right stick motions for advanced tricks (full 360 for Finger Kick 540) need a stable base — floating the device makes precision harder.

Battery Life

Expect 90 minutes to 2 hours continuous play at moderate settings — typical for 3D action titles on Deck.

Extend Battery Life

Lower screen brightness and cap FPS at 40 for extended Trick Park grinding sessions. These two changes together can add 30+ minutes of play time.

Marathon Sessions

For hotel or long session 100% completion pushes, carry a charger. The Deck charges while playing — you can push unlimited session time plugged into a USB-C power bank.

Demo on Deck Workflow

Download the free demo on Steam (App ID: 4142750) before purchasing the full game. Complete the tutorial handheld to test UI readability, then dock to a larger screen for Trick Park sessions if you prefer the Tricktionary reference on a bigger display.

Note: Demo progress does not transfer to the full game — they are separate installs. Your dare completion and collectibles in the demo start fresh in the full game.

Steam Deck vs Switch 2

Both platforms offer portable Denshattack! — Switch 2 via the eShop demo, Steam Deck via the Verified Steam path. The mechanics are identical on both. Choose based on which ecosystem you already own. Xbox Game Pass players without a PC may prefer Switch 2 until console launch.

FAQ

Is Denshattack! Steam Deck Verified?
Yes. Both the main game and demo carry Steam Deck Verified status, confirmed at launch July 15, 2026.
Do I need a keyboard on Deck?
No. Verified status confirms full playability with built-in Deck controls only. No keyboard needed for any part of the game.
Can I use gyro for tricks?
Tricks map to the right stick by design. Gyro is not required or standard for Tricktionary inputs — the right stick handles all trick motions.
What if the game doesn't launch?
Proton issues are rare for Verified titles. Force the latest compatibility tool in Steam settings if launch fails after a day-one patch. Update SteamOS first and report input bugs with your Proton version to the Steam Community hub.
