Movie Reels are narrative collectibles — one per major level, found near track finales. They unlock story video content including the demo ending cutscene.
Movie Reels (dare code: MRE) are film canister collectibles hidden near the end of each level. There is one per major level, making them rarer than other collectible types.
Each Movie Reel unlocks narrative video content — story sequences, crew moments, and world-building cutscenes. In the demo, the Movie Reel unlocks the demo ending sequence. In the full game, each reel adds to the narrative layer between runs.
Achievements: Picture Aficionado (first reel) and Total Toritetsu (all reels). "Toritetsu" (とりてつ) is Japanese slang for train photography enthusiasts — a direct cultural reference.
Movie Reels are consistently placed in the final section of each level — in the last 20-30% of the track. If you've been through most of the level without seeing it, start looking carefully at all routes in the closing stretch.
Like other collectibles, Movie Reels are on side routes — not directly on the main racing line. Look for alternate lane branches in the track finale section. One deliberate lane switch is usually all it takes to grab the reel.
Unlike gears which require charged jumps, Movie Reels are generally accessible with a standard lane switch. The challenge is spotting them during a fast-paced run — they're easier to grab once you know exactly where they are.
Combine Movie Reel collection with your toolbox and charm run — they're all in the same "collectible" category that doesn't conflict with trick runs. One dedicated collectible run per level should net the reel alongside the other items.
In Shin's Testgrounds (demo), the MRE unlocks the demo ending sequence — a short narrative cutscene that sets up Emi's introduction to the world of Denshattack! beyond Kochi Prefecture. Worth finding before the full game launch for story context.
